We, Brett and Vickie Nielsen, have been running the 2nd generation family business for almost 20 years. We are always striving to be a step ahead of our competition. The end of 2008 was a huge year for us as well; we moved to Gardner Court off Boundary Street and abbreviated our name to "D-Blinds". We restarted the business from scratch in Stenner Street then moved back into the centre of town to Prescott Street. At that time we were manufacturing cedar venetians and shutters, and suppling quality products as far as Darwin. A bad year in 1999 with mum retiring but this allowed my wife Vickie to step up to the challenge; however a fire destroyed our shed in this same year. Then, with the start of manufacturing verticals, security screens and doors moved to Stephen Street. After the passing of dad in 1990 mum 'sis' and i opened a new showroom in James Street. The 1st luxaflex showroom was opened in Ruthven Street in the 60's. My parents, opened the business in 1953 in Russell street, Stan and sis Nielsen, Toowoomba. (more).
