Jondaryan woolshed in the heart of the darling downs is a great day trip accessible from south east queensland, for those with an interest in australia??s rural heritage. The damper hut caf is open every day to enjoy our authentic billy tea and damper, coffee, homemade delights and various lunch options. The museum complex covers 12 acres and features historic buildings, machinery, equipment and collections. The woolshed as a venue offers a unique setting for weddings, caravan clubs, corporate functions, large groups and school visits. Built in 1859, the jondaryan woolshed is the oldest operating woolshed in queensland and the first purpose built shearing shed in australia. Open 7 days 9am ?? 4.30pm.

Visitors to the region will find the woodshed at Jondaryan an excellent location to serve as a home base’ as they go out exploring during the day. The facilities are incredible and everything is provided including huge amenities, dump point, a coin operated laundromat, a bush kitchen with BBQ’s, unfold fire pit and refrigeration. We were very impressed by this and would highly support it to visit if you want a huge day out or if your impartial in the area. It is for the total family and children would love it. We enjoyed the Museum beginning in the Bank of Fresh South Wales. We then went outer and had a leisurely self guided walk around the Historic Village and woodshed. The Machinery Display's are very impressive. There is a huge Animal Nursery for children. The woodshed Cafe was unfold on the day we went and had very pleasing meals. If you appreciate campingcaravaning there is a very appropriate camp ground and there are some selves contained unit's and shearers Quarters to stay in. Fantastic experience and caravanners facility. Tour was really informative and our guide brought the complete experience to life. The caravan options are great and the amenities are excellent.All in all a place I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

The committee organizing the school’s centenary celebrations, wanted to culminate those celebrations with a grand ball like they had back in the used days. This caught everyone’s attention and many people wanted to attend the ball, so important a number that they couldn’t grip in the town hall. This created a problem, they didn’t want to have to restrict the numbers, but they didn’t know where they could retain it, until someone suggested that they could grasp it in the poolroom of the worn woodshed, a very fitting place, for such balls were eternal held there in the past. When committee members inspected the poolroom however, a seen of devastation presented itself to them, the floor had collapsed and was unusable. The floor was pulled up, the joists were leveled up and supported and the floor boards were put back and replaced were necessary. On the evening of the ball, over 1,100 people full into the poolroom, no one was apprehensive however, everyone was glad to be there. All were overcome by the atmosphere of the impaired shed and the feelings of past events pervaded their senses. What began as a feeling, quickly became a desire, a desire that continued to grow among st the people of the district, to see the used woodshed preserved for the future. For all the formative years of the woodshed Association and the development of the woodshed intricate the light that lit the vision for the woodshed remained potent and the big obstacles that presented themselves were overcome. This was at a time when used historic things had small value and people were glad to give things to see them preserved or honest to get rid of the junk lying around the place. Everything was given, used buildings, machinery, equipment and artifacts of all kinds, all of which were connected with impaired Jondaryan station or its time and the woodshed historic intricate grew and developed with trivial more than the dedicated efforts of the woodshed volunteers in whom the vision for the woodshed remained strong. The woodshed’s volunteer base had grown very mighty and it became like a massive family.
