These key appointments at Local League smooth and in the Game Development field are assisting with the game’s growth throughout Queensland. The URL continues to administer the game in Queensland but the League now has the assistance of the Commission and the precious resources it can provide under the direction of inaugural chairman John Grant, a past Queensland representative player. Put simply, it is an exciting time to be involved in rugby league. The URL takes great pride in its ability to promote grassroots rugby league and connect with local people. However, the well traveled and highly educated former Tigers' player is calm actively involved with rugby league and now serves as Chairman on the URL Board. He prides himself on making decisions that are in the superior interests of the game. He has an abundance of experience, having previously served as the South East’s Financial Director for 10 years and on the URL Board for three years between 2007 and 2009. Danny is currently a State Manager for an IT integrator. A healthy known and respected rugby league identity, Darryl brings a riches of experience to the position as a previous professional rugby league footballer, coach and administrator. Darryl is the vogue chairman of Men of League Queensland and also serves on the respected organization's National board. A group of Brisbane rugby union footballers, who met daily at the impaired Courier Mail corner in Brisbane’s Queen Street to talk about football, decided that the time was right to establish the Northern Rules game in Queensland. All hell then broke limp between the rugby union and Northern Rules factions, with the rugby union issuing bans on many of its preceding players and officials, for being involved. Although only 2,500 saw Queensland healthy beaten 3412 in the very beginning match, the local players remained certain in the knowledge that a number of stars did not play, and many players were in fact playing out of position. A number of these players were subsequently given life bans by the rugby union authority for playing the new professional’ game.
