Thank you so much for the excellent care and encourage throughout my stay. The building and wards have a pleasant feel to them. All the staff were excellent in every way. They are courteous, professional and super efficient. I found all the staff and nurses very caring and helpful. They were such a immense team and notable thanks to Sharon for her concern on my admission to West Ward. May I take this opportunity of singing both his and my praises for the incredible staff members who have shown him such love and caring during his hospitalization. All staff members have been exceptionally helpful, obliging, happy, polite and management should be proud of their staff.
A contract for building construction was signed in 1965 and the base stone was laid by Rev J McConaghy. In 1980, approval was granted for an extension to amplify the hospital’s bed capacity to 62 beds. Istration and foyer areas were also enlarged during this exceptional scope of works. A new kitchen, staff conference facilities and coffee shop were part of a new wing opened in 1991. The Sleep Studies Unit was established in 1995 and a new stateoftheart laundry facility commissioned in 1996. In 1997 licensed bed capacity was increased to 11 beds and then to 129 beds in 1998 with the opening of the new East Wing and High Dependency Unit. 200 saw many changes to the hospital with the opening of the Mental Health Unit in the refurbished West Wing of the Hospital. St Andrew’s is committed to the community and its health needs. To this final the hospital is always improving and upgrading facilities to ensure the uppermost smooth of care is available for its patients. In 2012 two EDT Surgeons commenced private practice onside along with the Neurosensory Unit. As part of the cancer service expansions the John Stedman Unit (oncology services) expanded form 15 chairs to 25 chairs. We recognize that retention of staff is as important as recruitment!.
